Discovery & Research

In order to tell your story effectively Penguin Suits starts every logo design with the basics.

We've developed a detailed questionnaire to spark in-depth conversation with you to discover:

• company history
• what the company does/represents
• company culture
• company values
• the way you do business
• what makes you special

We also do independent research into your:

• company
• target audience - to identify an appropriate style for your logo
• competition – to identifies style clichés to avoid and ways to help your logo stand out

Defining

Here we establish how you will use the logo:

• different applications require different techniques
• helps determine which design to use so your logo is received and understood

Designing

We take the information we learned in the above steps and:

• sketch dozens of logos ideas
• brainstorm ideas, applications and usage
• formalize 5-7 of the best ideas
• add color
• incorporate your name and tag line

Once the designs have been fleshed out, we bring them to you for review.

Refining

After your review and initial feedback we:

• focus on the ones that most appeal to you
• work with you to apply tweaks to personalize your logo.

This step involves a lot of back and forth regarding the changes you request until we achieve a final logo design you love.

TIME MANAGEMENT

In order to honor our schedule and keep track of our project costs, we use time management software to track our time and procedures for each project. This helps us keep the cost of your project on track, as well as making sure all the proper steps are implemented for your project. You will also get weekly updates on where we are in the project.

TIMELINE

Developing a timeline for the project, complete with milestones, estimated dates, and needed information, allows us to keep you informed about the progress and keeps us on track for your project deadlines. We believe it is important to be transparent about what we are doing for you. The timeline allows us to do just that, by chronologically laying out our incremental process. The timeline keeps you informed about what we are doing, how long it should take, and what we require from you.

WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT

Once the discovery and research stage has been completed, we lay out a sitemap to determine the structure of your website. To represent the page designations and content, we create a graphic flow chart; this is a simple and inexpensive way to determine if we are proceeding with the site according to your needs.

TRAINING: Penguin Suits specifically created a great training program for our CMS clients to allow them greater control of their websites. By developing a custom manual and designing hands-on-training, we are able to teach them to maintain their own site content.

PRINT DEVELOPMENT

Business Cards, Brochures, Posters, Postcards, etc.

Based on the findings from the discovery and research stage, we design your print materials. Once designed, they are presented for your review. The review process involves some refinements which are usually minimal, thanks to the discovery and research phase. When approved, projects are printed and delivered for your use. Whether we are designing business cards or annual reports, we follow the same great process.

LOGO DEVELOPMENT

Guided by the results from the discovery and research stage, we develop and present several logo concepts we feel best address your needs, applications and usage. What follows is a streamlined refinement process, in which we adjust for personal preferences. The result of the process is a great finished logo, furnished to you in commonly used file types.
